BRD Group Winning Designs - BDAQ State Design Awards

The BDAQ State Design Awards were held on Friday 27 July 2012 at The Convention & Exhibition Centre in Brisbane. The evening was well attended, with guests and political dignitaries indulging in a delicious dinner, the awards ceremony and fabulous entertainment involving a group who performed as Elton John, The Beach Boys and The Rolling Stones.

BRD Group were delighted to receive 2 awards on the evening in both the residential and commercial sectors.

The 'Peter Modini Memorial Award for Commercial Buildings'
La Balsa Business Centre, Mooloolaba

As with most commercial projects, the client's brief was to maximise the development potential of the site in providing a professional office building, with some retail space.  To maximise the office outlook, the tower was designed with a centre core and glazing to all external walls, to aid in the energy efficiency of the building.  It became a signature building with maximum visual interest, meeting the client's needs.

'New Homes Over 450m2'
New Residence, Eumundi

This Sunshine Coast 3 storey vernacular style home maximises the view from its stunning hilltop location.  The client's European design influences have been incorporated into the motor court, entry, and pool courtyard areas.

The completed house morphs out of the hilltop, with minimal impact to the sloped landscape, while leaving most of the flat pad area for the feature motor-court and entry area producing a stunning European influenced space which added to the eclectic mix of design components within the overall house.
